IranGoals received an e-mail from the Australian reporter Mr. McIntyre who called the Persian Gulf, A-r-a-b-i-a-n Gulf.

Hello,

Apologies for any offence caused - it certainly wasn’t intended.

Without understanding the full implications and origins of the term, I inquired in Bahrain as to what the preferred term was - “Persian Gulf”, ‘Arabian Gulf’ or simply the ‘Gulf” - and twice was told that it was called the ‘Arabian Gulf’, hence the way I called it yesterday.

Whether this is the preferred term in Manama or I just struck two unusual cases I don’t know, but I accept the view presented that as the U.N. refers to it as the ‘Persian Gulf’ that’s the way I should have gone.

Am planning to a story on the Iranian national team soon, so hopefully can remedy the mistake then.

Sorry again.
Scott McIntyre
