
AFC (Asian Football Confederation), Beirut
Defending champions Iran have been drawn with Palestine, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates in Group B of the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Championship for Rafic Al Hariri Cup.
The event will be held Beirut from July 25 to August 3. Qatar, hosts Lebanon, Syria and Jordan are in Group A. The draw was held in the presence of officials from the West Asian Football Federation and representatives of the participating national associations.
Iran defeated Syria 4-1 to win the last edition of this biannual event held in Tehran two years ago.
WAFF vice-president Hassan Ghaffari (Iran), general secretary Fadi Zuraikat (Jordan), Lebanon Football Association president Hashem Haidar, Iraq Football Association president Hussain Saeed and the general secretary of the Syrian Football Association Tawfiq Sarhan headed the ceremony.
