Iran’s newly appointed head coach Amir Ghalenoei has announced his 23-man squad for the Asian Cup qualifying match against Syria.
Bundesliga based players Vahid Hashemian and Ali Karimi are left out of the squad. Ali Karimi picked up an injury during a training session with FC Bayern while there is no real reason given why Hashemian isn’t in the squad.
The other players that are left out of the original 40-man list are: Mehdi Rahmati, Mehdi Amirabadi, Moharram Navidkia, Alireza Abbasfard, Arash Borhani, Masoud Shojaei, Hossein Badamaki, Mohammad Nouri, Morteza Khanzadeh, Javad Shirzad, Gholamreza Rezaei, Mohammad Alavi, Sohrab Bakhtiarzadeh and Karim Bagheri.
