Round three kicked off in the UAE League as four Iranians featured in the Emirates-Sharjah match. It was Rasoul Khatibi and Masoud Shojaei on Sharjah’s side up against Reza Enayati and Hossein Kaebi. Emirates took the lead as Kaebi set up the goal with a nice cross from the right. Sharjah then hit back as Shojaei sold the dummy to two defenders in the box and easily put it past the keeper. Later in the second half, Khatibi was fouled in the box and won a PK. He stepped up only to knock it off the right goal post and was stuck with the single point.
Iman Mobali’s Shabab squared off against local power house Al-Ain. Shabab’s Captain Salem Saad was fouled in the box and set piece specialist Mobali stepped up to convert and take the lead. Later in the first half Mobali received a brilliant pass after Salem Saad’s dazzaling run to slot home from close range. This took Shabab up two goals. Al-Ain took a goal back as a defender scored in his own net, but Mobali wasn’t done yet. He provided the assist to the final goal which was the nail in Al-Ain’s coffin as the match ended 3-1 to Shabab.
Javad Kazemian and Ali Samereh teamed up to be the most leathal duo on the pitch against Al-Wahda which Al Shaab won 1-0. Neither scored but they both came quite close.
Farhad Majidi and Arash Borhani’s Al-Nasr overcame newly promoted Al-Fujaira 1-0. Borhani provied the assist on the only goal after a nice run through the ineffective defense. Majidi was his usual self, always hustling and creating opportunities, but came up with nothing.
