AP, MADRID
David Villa scored his fifth goal of the season Sunday to help Valencia beat Osasuna 1-0 and take over second place in the Spanish league.

Villa volleyed in a pass from Fernando Morientes in the 16th minute to maintain Valencia’s perfect record at Mestalla stadium this season.

Valencia, already lacking four injured Spain internationals, lost another in the 49th when captain David Albelda was carried off on a stretcher after being kicked by Osasuna midfielder Inaki Munoz.

Valencia substitute Jorge Lopez received his second yellow card in injury time.

Iranian midfielder Javad Nekounam played the full match and was one of the, if not the best player of Osasuna today.
