Absolutely the best team won. This was the best side I had seen during this tournament. They fought for every single ball, they ran tirelessly, they were mostly very unselfish and passed the ball whenever possible, they played with a lot of skills and confidence, they made a miserable nation happy for a while. Well done to all of them.
They defeated a team from a country that it’s crazy and sick nationals go to Iraq in order to blow themselves in the midst of Iraqis and kill as many of them as possible thus prolonging the war and the suffering of the Iraqi people. So once again congratulations for making your people happy and avenging some of their sufferings without shedding a drop of blood. I wish people/nations fought their battles in sports fields without having to kill anybody.
I think the Iraqi team should be an example to all other teams that without proper training and money by sheer guts and desire anything is possible. The mullah-land’s team has a lot to learn yet!

Don’t forget that Iran’s second team could beat this Iraq, AFC champion! This shows the power of Iranian players! But what’s wrong?! That’s that ****ing guy Ghalenoiee and beside it shows that Iran will play better with its intermediate players! So Karimi, … please leave Team Melli for the youngsters pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas!

صد ماشاُالله به غیرت عراقیها. کاشکی بازیکنان ما هم نصف آنها غیزت میداشتند. صد آفرین به مربی عراق. کاشکی مربی ما هم نصف او میفهمید.

Iraqis did a great job, Iran’s government instead of training and supporting terrorists and making problem in other countries must go to Iraq and learn from them. We have got three time Asia’s championship when Shah was in Iran. When will the forth time come?

To comment number 7; sure Ali Karimi and the coach have to go, but are you mad to say that Mahdavikia has to go. In the Iran vs S. Korea game, Mahdavikia took some good shots at the Koreans net, but their goalkeeper is pretty good. Also, Mehdi managed to open some good opportunities for goal scoring. His crosses, his runs, and his shot accuracy… he’s just amazing, and that’s why he is the captain of the team and it should stay that way (for now at least!).
And Congratulations to Iraq, they are one hell of a team! Their defense, their attacks, their chemistry, and their will power. They never gave up, and won. At least they gave their people something to be happy about.

Its hard to say it, but congrats to Iraq. They really deserved it. more than this, Im happy that Saudi Arabia didnt win it, or else it would have been their 4th time.

Congrats to Iraq, I’m so happy for them and the people in Iraq.
Team Melli could learn alot from the heart and desire of the Iraqis.
Talent doesn’t always spell vicory, but playing with heart and not giving up always give u a chance to win.
We got all this talent and we just don’t play hard all the time, that’s what’s so frustrating. The one guy that always gives it his all is Mahdavikia though.
It doesn’t help when we got a shitty coach though.
Even with the chaos in Iraq, they went and got a Brazilian coach.

I have no clue how Iraq got a hold of a Brazilian coach, but, man, how do they meet up with this coach for practices. I mean, it’s not like the guy lives in Iraq. But, during all the games, he was very compassionate, it was as if he was Iraqi. But, it wasn’t him that won Iraq the title, it was the team. I’ll tell you, Younnes Mahmoud and Nashat Akram, they are awesome players who should be playing in Europe (which after the Asian Cup, they probably will be). Again, Congrats to Iraq!

Younnes Mahmoud reminds me of Ali Daei in his younger years. Basim Abbas is a great defender too, him and his scissor kicks and his backward flip kicks to clear the ball crack me up (LOL)!
